But for artists on an indie-tip, the most valuable piece is the development of a strong core fanbase. As an example, look no further than PJ Morton, songwriter, keyboardist and longstanding stalwart of the U.S. soul-scene. In his own right, PJ is an amazing artist and has won a (little recognised) Grammy-award for his work with India Arie.
